#USCGrow

Problem

While USC boasts many student organizations, clubs, and events for various communities and interests, many students — especially graduate and off-campus students — face challenges finding groups or networks that align with their specific passions.
It's one thing to discover a group that sparks interest; it's another to coordinate attendance around busy schedules and varying locations.
In short, the current landscape makes it difficult for online and graduate students to connect with communities that truly match their unique interests and needs.

Solution

To solve this challenge, #USCGrow [creative name TBD] would:
1. Be a Search-and-Discovery Hub:
Think of it as "Yelp" for food or "TripAdvisor" for travel. This platform allows students to easily search for groups and clubs — big or small — based on interests, industries, or location.
2. Foster Meaningful Connections:
It connects like-minded students, enabling informal meetups and networking opportunities that help build community and collaboration.
3. Streamline Student Social and Career Growth
With integrated chat, scheduling, and event-hosting features, the platform simplifies organizing and participating in campus events, making it the go-to space for social and academic interactions.

Analysis

Current websites for groups and organizations like EngageSC, Experience USC, and USC Campus Activities suffer from:

  • Outdated user interfaces
  • Cluttered, overwhelming layouts
  • Difficulty for busy graduate students to find the exact communities they may be looking for

  • Impact and Vision

In the future, I see this evolving into a relevant, modern platform that becomes every student’s "go-to" resource for finding like-minded peers to chat, network, grow, and innovate with.
The aim is to keep it informal, comfortable, and user-friendly, making it easy for students to connect, communicate, and gather.
We're on the mission for Trojans to GROW!
